Cloud services are the delivery of different computing or IT services over the internet or “the cloud”. Instead of requiring traditional physical hardware on site, you access your services over the internet from a cloud provider. This removes the need to purchase, store and maintain physical hardware.
Can I move all of my applications to the cloud?
In theory yes, absolutely. However it will depend on the resource intensiveness of the application. If you have something that you would like to move to the cloud get in touch and we can talk through the best options with you.
We find that cloud systems are often a more cost effective solution, especially in comparison to building an on premise system with the same level of performance and redundancy. And with a fixed monthly cost that includes all aspects of your environment (from fixing failed equipment or upgrading to new technology to power and colling costs), you won’t ever be hit with sudden costs as you would if you had a failure with your on premise equipment. Think of your cloud provider as if they were a landlord, you are paying a fixed monthly cost for a storage and users in a particular environment and it is their responsibility to provide maintenance and utilities.
What are the benefits of moving to the cloud?
The biggest benefits of moving to the cloud are; scalability, monthly costs rather than a large upfront purchase, no ongoing hardware maintenance costs and increased security.
Is my data safe in the cloud?
Do I need a good internet connection / what happens if my internet goes down?
Cloud systems are designed so that they can be accessible from anywhere. So in the unlikely event that your office was to lose the interne, as long as your users have access to an internet connection elsewhere, such as another office, home or a public space, they can be back up and running from anywhere. In fact they could be anywhere in the world and as long as they had an internet connection they would be able to access data and applications just as if they were in the office. In terms of internet speed/ connectivity we do recommend a certain amount of bandwidth depending on the number of users and applications that you are using. If you are unsure to whether your locations internet connection will be sufficient then give us a call and we’d love to discuss it with you and determine the best solution for you.
